Hydrogen in Action: Field Tour & Evening Reception on Feb 11, 2026

BotH2nia Goes Oulu Field Tour

Site visit to Nokia Nokia Oulu Green Campus, Feb 2025

Come and see where Oulu’s new hydrogen industry is growing. So far, six companies have announced plans to build facilities for the production of hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives in Oulu. The industry will be located in green industrial areas. During the tour, we will visit the Oulu City Center Industrial Park and the Oulu Port Industrial Park, where space has been reserved for the production of hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives for projects by Verso Energy, Hy2Gen, Oulun Energia, and P2X Solutions. We will learn about the industry and infrastructure already in place in the area and hear more about future plans.

The tour is organised by the BotH 2nia Association and the BotH 2nia Hydrogen Valley, a hydrogen valley encompassing the NUTS3 regions of Southwest Finland, Satakunta, Pirkanmaa, Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia, and Sea Lapland. The BotH₂nia Association is building a hydrogen economy that encompasses the entire BotH₂nia Hydrogen Valley, consisting of the hydrogen industry, its subcontractors, research and educational institutions, and other actors.

Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required. Spaces are limited.

Destinations:

  1. New Nokia Oulu Green Campus

The Nokia Oulu Green Campus operates entirely on renewable energy, with any surplus fed into the district heating network, helping to heat 20,000 homes. It achieves full waste utilisation and a 99% reduction in CO₂ emissions. Operations commenced in Q3 2025. Home to 3,000 employees representing 40 nationalities, the 55,000 m² campus covers the entire 5G product lifecycle, from R&D to manufacturing and testing. Discover the latest green innovations developed in collaboration with Oulun Energia, Aurora and Promen.

  1. Oulu Port Green Industry Park

Oulu Port Green Industry Park serves as a strategic hub for large‑scale production of hydrogen and its derivatives. The area enables the manufacture of e-fuels, supporting Europe’s transition towards sustainable energy. With direct access to maritime routes and robust industrial infrastructure, it offers exceptional opportunities for export‑oriented green industry. Explore pioneering initiatives by Verso Energy and Hy2Gen.

  1. Oulu City Green Industry Park

Oulu City Green Industry Park in Laanila is a major circular‑economy and Power‑to‑X innovation industrial park in northern Finland. It brings together waste‑to‑energy, bioenergy, carbon capture and green hydrogen production to create a fully integrated ecosystem for sustainable industry. The site hosts advanced facilities for generating renewable heat and electricity, chemical recycling and the development of synthetic fuels. Discover how Oulun Energia and P2X Solutions are shaping the future of carbon‑neutral energy and industrial symbiosis.

16:00 – Buses return

Oulu is becoming the largest centre for synthetic fuel production in the Baltic Sea region. The BotH₂nia Goes Oulu Field Tour takes you to see where the new industry is emerging.
